LGBTQ+ Policymaking in the UK: From research to implementation sought to establish an interdisciplinary network of academic, policymaking, and civil society stakeholders to address the policy needs of the UK’s LGBTQ+ population. The UK Parliament lacked any advisory mechanism focused on the policy needs of UK LGBTQ+ communities and this project sought to fill that gap whilst leveraging KCL’s considerable LGBTQ+ research expertise.
KDL produced a product overview describing a digital resource that would offer decision-makers a direct line to academics, and others, who are undertaking research with LGBTQ+ communities to better understand communities and their needs. The product overview suggest a data model to capture users data and data needs, a set of high level requirements, UI/UX design considerations, advice on data security and compliance and guiding milestones for the partners if they chose to use the overview as part of a tendering process.
