    Samantha Callaghan

    Samantha Callaghan is a Research Software Engineering Project Manager as well as the Georgian Papers Programme Metadata Analyst. As an RSE Project Manager, Samantha guides projects through KDL’s Software Development Life Cycle. She also undertakes analysis work, decommissioning documentation and outreach, particularly in relation to Indigenous DH and decolonizing practice in the GLAM sector, for this role.

    The Georgian Papers Programme is an ambitious transatlantic project contributed to by King's College London, Royal Collections Trust, College of William and Mary, Omohundro Institute, the Sons of the American Revolution, the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association, and King's Digital Lab. As Metadata Analyst, Samantha's role is to discover how best to describe the material in the Programme to ensure that it is fully searchable, using either UK or US, modern or historical spelling; and that the methods of description conform to best practice.

    Samantha has an MLIS and received her training in the field of digitisation through her work at the New Zealand Electronic Text Centre. She has worked on a large variety of digitisation projects, large and small, both in NZ and in the UK. She has written or co-written articles around interlibrary loan, digitisation and Mātauranga Māori, digitisation in small institutions and orphan work licensing schemes.
