Tangible Inclusive Block-Based Language for Widening Access to Programming TIBBL

Circular symbols representing a computer vision library, designed to identify and track tangible objects on a flat surface.

The TIBBL: Tangible Inclusive Block-Based Language for Widening Access to Programming project seeks to develop an inexpensive, open-source tangible programming toolkit that is inclusive of people with visual impairments. A proof of concept for the tool by KDL in 2022 has been developed utilising computer vision via the TopCodes JavaScript library. A full prototype of the tool will be developed through an iterative co-design process in partnership with a group of students with mixed visual abilities and their computing teacher.
